JoinMyWedding, is a business venture marketed to tourists that want to experience the “genuine cultural celebration” an authentic Indian wedding like yours could offer, the website states.
The company’s co-founder Marti Matecsa got the idea after he was invited to a high-end, traditional Indian wedding in Tamil Nadu.
“The whole event was an amazing, unique experience,” he said. “From all the traditional elements of the ceremony, down to the beautiful sarees, accessories, generous hospitality, colorful lights, exotic, spicy flavors, ambience, smell and decorations.”
“On my way back home, I kept thinking about how lucky I was to attend such a wedding and formed the idea of opening up weddings to foreigners,” he said.
Couples from countries all over the world have begun to enlist their weddings in the website’s registry. Greece, Israel and India top the list of the most-offered locations tourists can purchase tickets for.
Guests are charged anywhere from $50-100 a ticket.
