‘Miracles Do Happen’ Acid Attack Survivor Lalita Is The Most Inspiring Bride

Dialing the wrong number sparked a beautiful romance when a humble man from Mumbai fell in love with the beautiful Lalita Ben Basi, an acid attack survivor from Azamgarh, India.

Lalita Ben Bansi, a 26-year-old acid-attack survivor, got married to the love of her life in a grand Mumbai ceremony.

Her face was severely deformed after cousin doused her in acid after a small dispute in 2012. After undergoing 17 surgeries to repair the scars as a result of the attack, sources say she moved to the city seeking a new start.

The bride met Ravi Shankar, her groom, after he dialed the wrong number. The two instantly connected. After meeting in person Lalita and Ravi discussed the attack.

“He knew everything about me and was well aware of my looks, but he still kept on his promise to marry me,” she said, “I am so proud to have a partner like him.”

The Star-Studded Wedding

Hundreds of guests attended the darling wedding.

Designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla gifted the beaming bride with a trousseau and wedding necklace. The bride donned a delicate ruby lehenga with gold and orange accents. Even the groom was dressed by the famous designers.

Other celebrities attended the lovely affair including Vivek Oberoi, a Bollywood actor, who presented Lalita with a house of her own as a wedding gift.

“Lalita is a true hero,” the actor said.

“Miracles do happen. Who would have thought an acid attack and 17 surgeries later I would find love?” said bride Bansi.

“Shankar taught me to believe in love,” she said, “It is a fresh start!”
