Essential Summer Makeup Musts for Every Bride
Essential Summer Makeup Musts for Every Bride
Makeup artist Rameeta Dha Farwaha of Vanity Shock Artistry believes prepping your skin is a good first step to keep your makeup fresh and comfortable all day. “A good face mask makes sure your skin is in great condition so makeup will go on smoother and last longer!”

Both Kiehl’s and Sephora offer consultations and samples, which are great if you are unsure about what type of mask is best for your skin. Farwaha also suggests a lip exfoliator to help prep your lips, since they help remove any dead skin and little things that affect how smoothly liners, glosses, and lipsticks go on. Lush, Fresh, and the Body Shop all have great ones.

Sun protection is always an important step, and a lightweight, non-greasy sunscreen protects your skin from UV-rays. There are liquids, sprays, waxes, and powders, so try some out before your wedding to see which ones work best for your skin. Tarte, Ombrelle, Kiehl’s, and L’Oreal are among the top-ranking sunscreens out there.

After you have masked and sunscreened yourself, it is now time for makeup!
“Always start with a face primer, it helps create a smooth canvas for application,” says Farwaha, who is a fan of Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Primer, which comes in different versions to help with a variety of skin types.
Farwaha also recommends going for a medium to light coverage foundation—her personal favorite is MakeUp Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundations—followed by contour and highlight to add dimension to the face.

“You want to be comfortable all day, but still make sure you look great in pictures,” says Farwaha. “Contour and highlighting give that brightness and definition that make brides look ready for any picture.”
“Anastasia Bevery Hills and Kat Von D have great contour palettes that have highlight shades, while Becca Cosmetics has highly pigmented highlight shades, that give that perfect glow.”

If you are not a fan of constantly reapplying lipstick, then liquid lipsticks are the way to go. They are highly pigmented, often dry to a matte finish, and have a huge color payoff that let you eat, drink, and enjoy without constantly reapplying. MAC, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Tarte, Kat Von D and Gerard are just some of the brands that have an extensive color selection for any bride.

False mink lashes give that va-va-voom look, and help your eyes stand out in pictures. Huda Beauty, Eyeris, Lilly Lashes, and House of Lashes all sell a variety of lashes that help create any type of look.

Once you’re happy with your look, Farwaha suggests a few spritzes of setting spray to keep your look perfect all day. Urban Decay’s highly rated setting sprays come in three different varieties that keep your makeup perfect all day.

Now you are ready! But remember to have extra glue for lashes, a wandering tikka or bindi, blotting papers for shine, lipstick and liner for reapplying, plus a wonderful person to hold it all. With all this in your arsenal, you are prepped for all the pictures and heat that come your way on your big day!
