Q: How did you and Sunny meet?
Sunny and I met for the first time in kindergarten. We went to school together until around grade 4 until sunny moved and went to a different school.
Being children we obviously didn’t date. However during a speech at our reception, Sunny’s childhood friend revealed that he had carved our names into a treehouse they both played in as kids.
It wasn’t until my 20th birthday, that we met again. A mutual friend thought it would be a good idea to introduce the two of us. It was a funny moment because we recognized each other instantly.
After the initial meeting, we stayed good friends. Sunny tried courting me for almost four years and it wasn’t until he had given up that I asked him out on our first official date.
Q: What was the inspiration behind the wedding & reception theme?
We always knew we wanted old world tradition during the ceremony. Sunny’s description of what he wanted for his achkan was a royal warrior and we just followed suit for everything else. We used lots of gold and rich jewel tones for accents.
For the reception, we wanted to do a full 360 of the morning. We both love house music and wanted that to be a huge part of our theme.
We added dark flowers and black details to add drama to the all white theme. A major component of the theme was to make sure we created a big party vibe, and music played a large part in that. We actually planned all of our cocktail music ahead of time to ensure that our reception kept the swanky party vibe.
Q: The most fun part of wedding planning?
The music was the funnest part! Asad (aka DJ Khanvict) asked us to make a list of music that we liked so that he had an idea of what he was working with. We looked forward to our meetings with him.
Sunny and I spent hours researching everything we liked from cake cutting to the walk-out song. We loved having this kind of control, especially because Sunny is so particular about music.
Raman and Sunny were really happy with how DJ Khanvict and the team at Decibel Entertainment put on an amazing party and shared these kind words.
