#PadManChallenge: Bollywood Unites For Menstrual Hygiene

First of all, a big salute to A Muruganantham for revolutionising not just sanitary pads but also a mindset that still considers periods a taboo among the male fraternity.

#PadManChallenge is the latest viral sensation online that started with Akshay Kumar accepting challenge on Instagram to pose for a picture with a sanitary napkin in his hand.

Since then, the message to support woman health and men taking a stand towards it has been spreading like wildfire across Twitter and Facebook as well.

Every Bollywood actor or celeb who has been challenged has supported the cause sportingly.

From Aamir Khan to Farhan Akhtar to Varun Dhawan, each challenge receiver’s response came out strong to break the stigma attached to the topic of women’s menstrual cycle.

And it’s not just the men making this visually vehement statement online. Bollywood divas like Deepika Padukone, Karishma Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have also joined the challenge.

The beauties went all ahead to strike a pose and share the message that there is nothing to shy away from periods. It’s absolutely normal.

Style queen Sonam Kapoor who has portrayed the role of a social activist in Padman movie has taken this challenge to the next level.

Her instagram feed is flooded with pictures of her B’Town friends encouraging the pad talk.

Though the #PadmanChallenge is a part of online promotions for the Akshay Kumar starrer biopic that released late January, it seems to be heading towards a positive movement.

People across all ages and genres are driven by the idea and following their favourite stars and icons with their pictures.

Even other brands and online publishing sites took this opportunity to educate their audiences about the menstrual cycles and the response has been surprisingly outstanding.
