“Of all our wedding events, the Sangeet was our favorite,” said bride Kamana.
“From the start, we said that our wedding should be fun, memorable, and a reflection of us as a couple. Most importantly, we wanted our guests to feel taken care of.”
With a floral Outdoor Floral Photobooth, the couple’s family friends captured amazing and vivacious photos of themselves. Strands of Marigold and Jasmine added an Indian touch to the event with custom signage and fun chalkboards.
“Since I am from North India and Shiv is from South India, we wanted our wedding to reflect both our cultures. The Performances at our Sangeet did just that,” she said.
“Every girl has a vision for her wedding day and I knew I wanted mine to be elegant, traditional, and fun! A mint and gold colored Mandap, full of lush flowers, and accented with hanging flower stands was always my dream.
Coral is my favorite color and of course my wedding outfit had to be coral! I love how the color paired so well with our mint and gold decor and custom mint colored saris for my bridesmaids.
We wanted our ceremony to be a reflection of our love for each other, our family, and loved ones. Shiv and I are both very close to our grandparents.
We added century old photos of our grandparents on their wedding day to our entrance and felt their blessings with us.
The Baraat – accompanied by a horse, DJ, and Dhol (Drum) player set the tone for a festive mood.
The bride’s side wanted to make sure we had our own fun with “Jutti Chupai”, a tradition where the bride’s sisters and bridesmaids stealthily take away and hide the shoes of the bridegroom, to be returned only after intense negotiations from the groom’s side on how to get the shoes back!
Our intention for our reception was simple: have a blast! We kept the program (speeches, performances, etc.) to a minimum and let our dance floor be the focus!
Our entrance was fitted with a 24-foot wide screen that showcased photos from our wedding events. We also added our logo and hashtag #KandSKnotItUp to everything from welcome signs to sunglasses.
My best friend and Bridesmaid is the Managing Director of a dance school so our wedding included a flashmob just for us. It was amazing to see our family members and friends join us on the dance floor!
I found frames from Home Goods, hollowed, sandpapered, and sprayed painted them myself. I added details such as flowers and ribbon to make the frames pop and our guests loved taking photos with our custom props!
We designed a 5-tier cake with our baker, Fluffy Thoughts, and loved how the cake looked and tasted. Our caterers also made sure all our dishes were delicious along with our Indian dessert buffet.
Our DJ was everything, and even started a Team Bride vs. Team Groom dance off. Needless to say – Team Bride slayed!
You know your reception was amazing when your guests do not want to leave! We continued the celebrations into the night with champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and more dancing. We also held a Best-Day-Ever-After brunch for guests to say thank you to our loved ones,” the bride finished.
